Salif Keita and his band perform in New York for a largely Malian audience that blissed out and completely lost its mind. The camera is on stage in the middle of the musicians and the action. His admirers come up to give Salif money, dance, kiss him, sing with him etc. Responding to this rapturous audience, Salif, his band and dancers let loose with a once in a lifetime performance.

We see Salif and the band waiting and preparing back stage at Irving Plaza; he goes down to the stage and sings two solos (Ignadjidje, and Ananamin) shown up close with dissolves of New York city. The audience is near him, standing pressed to the stage. The band enters and performs Katolo; Bolon with solo by Harouna Samake; Baba; Koukou; Tolon Wilile, Mimi dances and Salif pulls a little boy in the audience on to the stage to dance; Tekere with dissolves of New York; Sumun Harouna Samake plays another solo, Salif falls to his knees and Mimi dances to a keyboard solo, two women and a little boy from t he audience dance to drum solos.

Salif introduces the band and talks to the audience. They perform Mandjou and many audience members come on to the stage to embrace him, wipe his brow, dance, and shower money on the performers. The camera is in the middle of the action; one man appears to faint. The stage is covered with dollar bills and Salif is on his knees by the end of this intense 7-minute song. The band plays Madan and Samake performs another solo; a young man in a suit dances and shouts "Africa", with money underfoot. Salif pulls audience members on to the stage who dance with him and continue as he exits.

In the dressing room the band returns, Mimi carrying a calabash full of bills. Backstage packed with people, Salif is greeted and photographed by many fans; we see him leave the theater.
